In March 2021, AM Best announced its plan to introduce a performance assessment for delegated underwriting entities and requested public comment. As this plan would have a significant impact for many in the program business industry segment, the TMPAA surveyed its members to solicit feedback and provided information to AM Best in a document found here.
On February 1, 2022, after a period of beta testing, AM Best released the final methodology for their assessment. The Methodology and Criteria document is published on the AM Best website.
The TMPAA Advisory Board believes that given the possible far-reaching implications of the AM Best performance assessment, it is important for Association members to be familiar with the process and have informed conversations with their program partners and stakeholders about the ramifications of participation.
