Everest Insurance appoints new leaders for US Wholesale and Programs business
7th August 2024 - Everest Insurance, the insurance division of Bermuda-based re/insurer Everest Group, has appointed Stephen Buonpane to lead its US Wholesale and Programs business and named Danielle Stewart as Chief Operating Officer.
In his new role, Buonpane will report to Bill Hazelton, Executive Vice President of Everest Insurance and President of North America Insurance.
Hazelton expressed enthusiasm for Buonpane’s appointment, stating, “As a recognized market authority, Stephen brings the underwriting acumen, industry expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit that will propel our portfolio and help our wholesale clients thrive in today’s challenging risk environment.”
He added, “Stephen’s proven record of building successful businesses from the ground-up will be instrumental to the fulfilment of our wholesale strategy.”
Buonpane brings over two decades of industry experience to his new role. His appointment follows his previous position at Everest as Head of Casualty Specialty Lines and Industry Practices. Prior to that, he served as Chief Insurance Officer at Shepherd for three years, and held senior roles at Chubb for five years.
In her new role, Stewart will report directly to Buonpane.
Stewart has been with Everest Insurance for two years, joining in 2022 as National Head of Wholesale Distribution. Previously, she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance for 11 years, most recently serving as Director of Business Strategy, where she led a variety of strategic initiatives for the company’s Primary Casualty E&S portfolio.
