Starfish Specialty Insurance Launches Community Association Program backed by Ascot Group
Program features a suite of specialty coverages including D&O, Crime and Excess liability
New York, NY – January 3, 2023 – Starfish Specialty Insurance announced today that it has launched a new program designed for Community Associations. The program, known as “CAProtect”, is comprised of D&O, Crime and Excess liability coverages for non-profit planned unit developments, condominium, commercial and homeowner’s associations. The program is underwritten by AM Best “A” rated Ascot Insurance Company on an admitted basis and is available through select retail brokers.

Starfish also announced that Kyle Hyla has joined the company as Program Manager for CAProtect. “Kyle brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a senior underwriter and manager for this class of business. Based in New York, Starfish Specialty Insurance is a privately held, national program administrator licensed to write admitted and surplus lines business. Starfish was founded in 2021 by Jeremy Hitzig along with Tom Lane, Margret McBurney, Michael Thabet, Brooks Chase and James Flynn. The company launched their first program in late 2021, a unique builder’s risk program distributed as an embedded product in partnership with a leading private lender. A third program is set to launch early this year.
