NAS Insurance Services Announces Publication of The 2019 Cyber Claims Digest
March 26, 2019 - Encino, CA: NAS Insurance announced today the release of their annual Cyber Claims Digest. The 2019 report contains an analysis of almost 2,000 closed cyber claims from the 2018 calendar year.
“As our cyber business continued to expand in 2018, we saw a significant increase in cyber claims across our healthcare and non-healthcare policyholders,” remarks Natalie Kelly, Senior Vice President of Claims for NAS. “Most notably in 2018, cybercrime claims have skyrocketed 68% over 2017, fueled by financial fraud incidents. Our latest report also provides an update on the expansion of ransomware events that continue to impact our policyholders.”
The NAS 2019 Cyber Claims Digest provides insight into the types of cyber claims handled by the firm in 2018, as well as an analysis of the expenses related to the response efforts. “The big breaches may grab headlines,” said Peter Hedberg, VP Eastern Cyber and Tech E&O Manager, “but the hackers seem to be focused on attacking small business as of late. With 105% increase in costs of forensics and 72% increase in legal expenses over last year, the cover is a great benefit to these organizations that may otherwise not be able to absorb the costs.”
