In 2016, the TMPAA Charities Board of Directors made a strategic decision to focus its efforts on education by establishing a scholarship program in partnership with St. Joseph’s University School of Insurance and Risk Management. As funding allowed, this initiative expanded to include three additional universities, broadening the impact on future industry professionals.
Building on this success, in 2023 the Board launched the TMPAA Charities Endowment Program to provide permanence for these scholarships and support additional initiatives designed to attract, educate, and promote the next generation of program business professionals.
From 2024-2026, TMPAA donated nearly $250,000 in scholarships to more than 30 students from the following schools:

- Georgia State University
- Illinois State University
- Michigan State University
- Missouri State University-Springfield
- Saint John’s University
- Saint Joseph’s University
- Southern University
- Temple University
- The University of Alabama
- The University of Texas at El Paso
- University of Central Arkansas
- University of Connecticut
- University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- University of South Carolina
- University of Southern California
- University of Wisconsin-Madison
In addition, the TMPAA provides $10,000 in travel expenses and provides hotel accommodations for students to attend the two annual TMPAA events in the spring and fall.
The student experience includes:
- Interactive Educational Talks about Program insurance – Underwriting, Claims, Distribution, Program Administration and more, presented directly to the student in a roundtable discussion by industry professionals
- Education on the new Program Business Professional (PBP) designation offered by The Institutes
- Lloyd’s of London – Roundtable and introduction to Lloyd’s and their Syndicates
- Education on the Program Business Study – This study is conducted every two years and highlights the State of Program Business
- Industry Presenters – Experts within the insurance industry
- Keynote Speakers – Celebrity presenters offering insight into leadership and business
- Workshops & Panel Presentations – Subject expertise
- Student Talent Open House – Students will share resumes with association members and discuss internships and employment
