Shawn O. Fabors Named RISC President Upon Retirement of William D. Staub, Jr.

Dallas, TX, April 1, 2014:  RISC announced that William D. Staub, Jr. has retired as President of the company effective April 1, 2014. After 11 years with the company, Staub will pass the leadership of RISC to his successor, Shawn O. Fabors.

William D. Staub, Jr. joined RISC as President in January 2003. Staub began his insurance career in 1977 as a Casualty Underwriter with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Philadelphia. He was transferred to the Dallas Liberty Mutual office where he worked until 1982 when he left to join National Re as a Casualty Facultative Reinsurance Underwriter and was involved in the start up of this office. Immediately prior to joining RISC, Staub served as President and COO with a national wholesaler where he had worked since 1987. Staub was named “Newcomer of the Year” in 1989 and was a Top Ten Broker for the group during nine of the next 13 years.

Shawn O. Fabors joined RISC as Chief Sales Officer in 2008, with primary responsibilities of producer development and top line production.  In addition to these core responsibilities, Shawn’s tenure with RISC also included the underwriting and management of the Small Business Unit and the Contractor Select Casualty Programs.  Fabors currently serves as an Officer on the TSLA Board as the Secretary Treasurer.

Prior to joining RISC, Fabors served as the Territory Sales Director of a leading national property and casualty insurance company.  During his tenure, Fabors was consistently ranked in the top 10 percent of his peer group nationally for new business growth and renewal retention. He also held nominated positions on advisory groups providing insight and ideas to the Executive Management Team.

Fabors began his insurance career in 1998 working for a large well-known international property and casualty insurance carrier. The first seven years he held positions of Branch Manager and Business Development Manager of the Premium Finance Operation. Ultimately, he was promoted to Regional Manager of Financial Institutions. Fabors also spent two years as a Senior Broker for a national wholesale insurance brokerage firm based in Dallas.
