Programs Exec Meek Leaves Allied World for Homesite

August 22, 2019 – According to sources, the executive is expected to take on the position of president of a new programs unit being set up by the American Family affiliate.

Details of the platform are not known, but sources said program business would likely be written on the AM Best A rated paper of Homesite.

Homesite, which was bought by American Family in 2014 for $616mn, claims to have been among the first US insurers to offer direct insurance to consumers online.

The Boston, Massachusetts-based carrier’s core direct insurance business offers coverage for home, renters, condo, business, term life and flood.

Its parent American Family, which is based in Madison, Wisconsin is the 13th-largest P&C insurer in the US, according to its website.

Meek was most recently senior vice president for specialty insurance at Fairfax Financial-owned Allied World, and was responsible for programs, environmental, surety and DBA divisions as well as business operations, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She was promoted to that role in February this year but retained oversight of Allied World’s US programs division.

She joined the company in 2011 and had previously been chief business officer at Delos Insurance, and held various positions at Clarendon Insurance Group – the former Hannover Re US programs business – and at its successor Praetorian Financial Group.

At Allied World she oversaw a US programs business that houses a range of offerings, including auto dealerships, commercial property, construction, environmental casualty, habitational, healthcare, public entities/public services, sports and wellness, restaurants/grocers and wineries/breweries.

Allied World partners with program administrators and writes on an admitted and non-admitted basis in 50 states.

Partner program administrators and wholesalers include Edward E Hall, K2’s Vikco Insurance Services, RT Specialty, C&S, Wright Specialty, American Professional Agency and NSM Insurance Group.
