Monday 3 October 2016: Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed Kin Lau as head of regional liability and TMK’s Hong Kong office.

Lau teams up with former colleague Wendy Law, who joined TMK as a liability underwriter in May, to establish TMK’s presence in the Asia liability market. As well as growing the liability book in the region, Lau will manage TMK’s Hong Kong office.
 
This comes on the back of TMK’s Head of Asia, Neil Wray, returning to London at the start of  2017 to take up a newly created position as head of international business. The role will involve Wray having oversight of all international underwriting and operations as TMK continues to grow its international business. With almost 30 years of market experience, Wray has spent the past 16 years in Asia developing the presence of Lloyd’s insurers.  
 
Commenting on the appointments, Charles Franks, chief executive officer, said: “Liability is an important part of our business  and, factored in with the increasing insurance penetration in Asia, it made sense to start writing the class locally in the region. Kin and Wendy are both well known in the Asian market and have the experience to allow us to build  book from scratch.”

About Neil Wray:
•    Neil joined TMK in 2009 as Head of Asia and is currently based in Singapore
•    Previous to this he was at Catlin where he was also Head of Asia. He joined Catlin London in 1991, moving to Singapore in 2000 and Hong Kong in 2006
 
About Kin Lau:
•    Kin joins from XL Catlin where he was Head of the Hong Kong office and Senior Casualty Liability Underwriter. He joined Catlin in 2007
•    Between 2004 and 2007 he was a Casualty Risk Engineer/ Underwriter at Ace
 
About Wendy Law:
•    Wendy moved to TMK from XL Catlin where she was a Casualty Underwriter. She started at Catlin in 2010
