Tim Usher-Jones is Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Banyan Risk Ltd., a Bermuda-regulated specialty Managing General Agent (MGA) founded in 2021. He leads the firm’s strategic development, with a focus on disciplined underwriting, carrier and capital partnerships, senior talent, technology-enabled operations and global expansion.
Under his leadership, Banyan has evolved from a Directors & Officers (D&O) specialist into a broader specialty underwriting platform operating across Bermuda, Canada, the United States and London. Publicly announced capabilities include D&O, excess casualty, healthcare professional liability, emerging risks, and U.S. inland marine and marine property. Banyan describes its operating model as data-driven and tech-enabled, designed to deliver bespoke solutions for complex risks.
Before founding Banyan, Tim spent 16 years with Chubb in North America. He joined in 2005 and progressed to Senior Vice President, where he oversaw teams writing a profitable specialty insurance portfolio spanning D&O, employment practices liability, financial institutions, fiduciary, fidelity, errors & omissions, surety, transactional risk and trade credit.
Tim brings a combination of underwriting discipline, portfolio management, entrepreneurial leadership and long-standing broker, carrier and client relationships. His recent public commentary has emphasized scaling Banyan’s platform with discipline, surrounding the business with experienced leadership, and using strategic partnerships to support durable long-term growth.
