State of Program Business

Target Markets Announces 2nd Annual “State of Program Business” Research Project

The initial “State of Program Business Study,” completed last year, pegged the size of the program business market at more than $17.5 billion in gross written premiums. The 2012 Study will be sponsored by Association Members Scottsdale Insurance Company and Western Heritage Insurance Company.

The study will be conducted by the research firm Advisen, and released at the Association’s 12th Annual Summit in October. Advisen will look at both Program Administrators and Program Insurance Carriers in their data gathering efforts. The objective of the research is to provide the program industry with information that documents trends in the size and dynamics in the program business market. The analysis will include a survey of program administrators and carriers. Additional data and information will be drawn from the Advisen databases of retail brokers, managing general agents and underwriters and wholesale brokers. The research will also leverage Advisen data on policies, premiums, coverage and losses. Advisen’s data, analytics and news products offer its 100,000 commercial P&C customers insight into underwriting, marketing, brokering and purchasing commercial insurance. Advisen is also a member of TMPAA.

Town Hall Meeting

Here is a quick reminder about our first PA Town Hall Meeting, scheduled for the Mid Year Event in Boston on Tuesday, May 1st exploring the following issues:

1. In House Producer/Sales Force Compensation

2. Rewards and Pitfalls of Taking Risk

In the next week you can expect to see an "In House Producer Compensation Survey" to complete about your agency operation.  These survey results will be shared during the presentation and made available as a resource for your management of this issue.

Along with the survey will be the opportunity to submit advance questions on both Town Hall topics.

Please complete the confidential survey and submit your questions when you receive that email correspondence.  Thank you!

The Mid Year Meeting will feature two "Open Houses" to address issues specific to your program business. Both Open House events will take place on Monday 4-30 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM.

M&A Open House – Focused on Your Business

How are the recent trends and issues in the industry affecting the value of my business?  Do I have an effective perpetuation plan in place?  Is this a good time to sell, or should I consider growing my business if I can find capital?  If you have these or other questions about your business, the team from Mystic Capital Advisors will be available to discuss your specific situation and offer advice/solutions.

Breckenridge Insurance Group Open House

As you are aware, one of the many reasons the Breckenridge Ins. Group invested in the TMPAA was to bring expanded services and capabilities for Association members.

At this Mid Year event, you are invited to meet the Breckenridge team members and share ideas on the various issues confronting your business.  Follow-up personal meetings are available if interested.  Information about and directions to the open house will be available at the TMPAA registration table.

Two events at this year's Summit, along with your individual contributions, have once again made it possible for TMPAA Charities to support organizations in your communities.

Our TMPAA Charities Networking Golf Tournament had 100 participants and many generous sponsors.

The "Photo Contest" with President Bush raised almost $2500 dollars.

The TMPAA Board and Staff would like to thank everyone who has participated in these efforts.

The TMPAA Charities Committee will be meeting in December to review the proposals submitted by members, and make the awards that support Education and Business Incubation in your community.  Please review the information below.

Request for Proposals

The Charitable arm of the TMPAA is organized to give members a greater voice in deciding what organizations our funds will support.

The TMPAA Charities Board is now accepting funding applications submitted by TMPAA members to choose our beneficiaries.

Funding requests must fall into two areas:

1) Education
2) Business Incubation

Zurich Programs
Designs Humorous Video Promoting Website

Insurance carrier Zurich has introduced an innovative tool that helps connect its program administrators with thousands of P&C agents across the country. This lead generation Website, (ZProgramsMatch.com), is a value-added service Zurich offers to all of its program administrators. And to promote the site, Zurich has turned to social media.

The video is a parody of a popular television show, and centers on a sales contest within an insurance agency.

“We are always looking for new ways to reach agents and help our program administrators grow their business,” said Jino Masone, head of sales, distribution and marketing for Zurich Programs.  “This video has proven to be a successful and fun way to do that.”

New Opportunity for TMPAA Members

In an effort to further enhance membership value, the Target Programs Marketing Service (TPMS) has been established to provide a variety of marketing services to TMPAA members seeking assistance in upgrading their program marketing initiatives and resources.

TPMS has been constructed to assist TMPAA members who may not have the overall resources (staff, financial capacity, external vendor, etc) to develop a comprehensive marketing plan and program.

Service packages are flexible and, in most cases, can be customized to an individual PA/MGA’s specific marketing needs.  Services can include:

  • Website design / upgrade
  • Marketing plan / budgeting
  • Brand development
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Media strategy
  • Creative / graphic design
  • Online marketing
  • Social media strategies

The TMPAA Charities Networking Golf Tournament needs your Participation and your Sponsorship

The proceeds from our networking Golf Tournament is the primary funding source for TMPAA Charities.  We need sponsors to make this work.

Unlike other golf events, pairings in this tournament are made to maximize the networking opportunities between Carriers, Program Administrators and Vendors.  Our Tournaments have all been tremendous successes.

Plan to arrive early and enjoy this networking opportunity.  Our Tournament is designed for golfers of all skill (or lack there of) levels.

This year's Tournament will be played at the event hotel.

The TMPAA Charities Board is now accepting funding applications submitted by TMPAA members to choose our beneficiaries.

Funding requests must fall into two areas:

1) Education
2) Business Incubation
